Know your coffee

These seeds were gathered from the Gori Gesha coffee forest, located 20 kilometers from our farm. Through historic expedition research and genetic testing, this location in Gori Gesha has been determined to be the collection site of the Panamanian Geisha.

Gesha 1931

This is a selection made from the diverse forest population that closely resembles the Panamanian Geisha. This selection was made by looking at the plant morphology, bean shape and size, as well as its cup profile.

Oma Village

Located in Ethiopia’s Bench Maji zone, near the Gori Gesha Forest where the famed Gesha variety was first documented, the estate produces some of the most distinctive coffees we source each year. Named after the respected and loved religious leader of the Meanit people.

What makes Gesha Village exceptional is its dedication to precision and innovation. From careful variety selection to meticulous processing, every step is designed to highlight the unique qualities of the coffees grown there. Founders Adam Overton and Rachel Samuel set out to bridge Ethiopia’s deep coffee heritage with the evolving landscape of specialty coffee, and their work continues to redefine what’s possible.

Semi-anaerobic Natural Process: This type of coffee is produced by fermenting freshly harvested cherries in jute bags in a sub-terrain concrete tank for 85 hours. The coffee is then delivered to raised African beds and dried in the sun for 38 days.
